Adams was the daughter of an U.S. Army officer in Italy and grew to be a resident of Castle Rock Colorado. In the early 1990s, Adams began dancing professionally at the Boulder Dinner Theatre as well as the Country Dinner Playhouse. Then she moved to Minnesota and was made a part of Drop Dead Gorgeous, a documentary mock film that focused on beauty contests. Following her debut on screen as a cute but serious contestant, she moved towards Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. From June 1951 until September 22, 1962 she got married to actor Tony Curtis. She is also the mother of Kelly Curtis & Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh, who was introduced to her through actress Norma Shearer Leigh signed a contract with MGM to begin her career as a film actress in the mid 40s. She appeared in several popular films in the next decade, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) and Living It Up (a Martin and Lewis-film from 1954).
